Update received 8/30/2010:

Great News

We have found out that Tammy is pregnant again and we believe God has given the doctor wisdom to know what has been wrong.  At this time Tammy is about eight or nine weeks along, and doing great.  We even got to see the the heartbeat of the baby, which we never saw the last few times she miscarried.  Praise the Lord!  Please pray with us that God will watch over, and protect both Tammy and the baby.  We will keep you posted after doctor’s visits.

Lots of Work

Well, with the home and property comes a lot of fixing, cleaning, building, and of course, moving.  Most of the moving is done, although I cannot say we are all settled in.  We have been blessed with the finances and help to build and pour the slab for our addition!  That was more work and money than I anticipated, but it is done and well worth it!  We were also able to paint the house, which desperately needed it.  The house was built in 2002 and had never been painted.  We have also been able to start cleaning up and fixing up the property for camp.  Things are looking great!  We still have a long way to go but we are staying busy, taking it one step at a time.  We still need materials for the building of the addition, and ask that you pray with us on this matter.  We would love to have the addition in the dry by the beginning of October.

First Meeting on Property

We wanted our church people in Newcomb, as well as brothers and sisters in Christ in the area, to see what God was doing for the vision of Camp Christa so we planned to have a picnic and tent meeting on the property.  We did so on the afternoon of Sunday August 22.  This was to be our church service as well, which meant our people had to make the 80 mile one-way drive to Cortez.  The events started at 12:30, and continued until about 5:00.  It all turned out amazingly well!  We had most of our folks from Newcomb, as well as some friends, neighbors, and visitors, for a total of 89 people.   We had the Tero family sing for us for about an hour and a half, and then Bro. Larry Blades preached.  We had a wonderful time in the Lord, and our hearts were encouraged to see the big top tent set up and filled up for the first time on the property.

Thanks

Thank you all for your many prayers.  God does answer our prayers!  Thank you for your faithful support that helps makes the entire ministry possible.

Because of Jesus,

GREETINGS FRIENDS & PARTNERSHIP SUPPORTERS –

IN THE PRECIOUS NAME OF OUR LORD – JESUS CHRIST

On July 22, 2010, we arrived safely in Cherokee, North Carolina.  I drove a 24’ Budget rental truck. Rocky, our Shetland Sheep dog, rode with me.  My son, Merritt Jr. drove our pickup, bringing Ms. Lulie and our cat, Keaton.

We’ve been in Cherokee now for 12 days.  We miss our beloved congregation, All Nations Indian Baptist Church, the BMA, and New Mexico. But we know that The Lord has brought us back to the beautiful Smokey Mountains for His Purpose.  We know that we are here to help my parents with their daily needs, and that there is a ministry here for us as well.

Please pray for our ministry and my parents’ well being.  Pray and continue to support All Nations Indian Baptist Church, Bro. Anthony and Ms. Mary Pennington, and Bro. Ray and Ms. Lorraine Perry.

Our mailing address is 37 Goose Creek Rd. , Cherokee , NC 28719 .  Our telephone numbers are 505-366-1304 and 505-366-4424.

Thank you again for all of your faithful prayers and financial support these past four plus years!

Lord bless you; we love you!

Bro. Merritt & Ms. Lulie

 From the Penningtons:

 Dear Friends and Supporters,
July has been a month of transition for the Youngdeers, Penningtons and the
All Nations Indian Baptist Church. Bro. Merritt and Ms. Lulie's last Sunday with us was July the 18. The church honored them with special recognition during the morning worship service. Many of the members spoke of what a blessing they had been to them in their walk with the Lord. It was a very emotional time for everyone, with tears and laughter. Bro. Merritt and Ms. Lulie opened presents and cards from the members and shared their love and appreciation for their years of service in planting the ANIBC. The church gave them a card with the a special word of encouragement from the members along with a parting love offering. We were blessed to have the youth group from Farley Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie, Texas with us in the service. They encouraged us with special music and we all enjoyed a barbecue lunch with all the trimmings afterwards. Bro. Merritt and Ms. Lulie will be missed by all of us. They encouraged us to continue to reach out and make disciples of Native Americans living in Rio Rancho and Albuquerque.
Pray for the Youngdeers as they care for Bro. Merritt's elderly parents in Cherokee,
North Carolina.
We experienced a busy and exciting week with the youth team from Farley Street. Jason Pruitt, their youth minister, did a tremendous job of leading them in painting the outside of the church building and conducting a sports camp in the evening. The sports camp was held in a local Rio Rancho park down the street from All Nations and the church received some good exposure in the community. The camp was well attended and finished up with a block party with the gospel being shared in songs, a mime presentation and skits. One lady from Afghanistan received Christ as Savior and many heard a clear presentation of the gospel. The Farley Street group also did a great service to us and Bro. Merritt by loading the trucks for his move and also moving us into their house which we are now renting. These strong young men and women certainly saved a lot of aches and pains for us older folks!
God blessed with two more professions of faith during the month of July, and also with first time visitors in the services. We are seeing progress made with the outside projects at the church. As you know, the retaining wall has been finished and we are now preparing to get bids for the curbing. After the curbing we will proceed to having the parking lot paved and the landscaping finished. We should have all this done before winter.
Please continue to pray for Mary and me as we work with Bro. Ray Perry and Ms. Lorraine and the rest of the leadership team in reaching and making disciples among thousands of native American people in this part of God's Kingdom. Pray for our members as they face personal challenges with their health and other family circumstances. Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support and when you are in the area, please come and see us.

Thank You,

Update received July 19, 2010:

Baptisms in Aquismón

On July 4, while most were celebrating the independence of the United States, eight believers in Aquismón celebrated their independence in Christ through the ordinance of baptism.  All eight had been discipled by three different leaders in the church.  Some were from Tampate, a village near Aquismón, others from Tancuime, where we have a mission, and still others from right here in Aquismón.  Eleven other candidates from Xolmon are awaiting baptism, which has been planned for July 25.  Join me in prayer for Faviana, Amelia, Erika, Estanislao, Natalia, Vianey, Juan Abdías, and Eunice as they continue to grow in the Lord.

Alonso and Family Return to Chiapas

The second week of July was a sad one here in Aquismón.  Alonso, Doris, Erika, and Isaías left to return to Chiapas.  Alonso will continue his studies in the university there.  We hate to lose them, but rejoice that he desires to better prepare himself to serve the Lord.  Pray for them as he decides on some ministry opportunities.

Share Your Faith Seminar

On June 26 twenty students participated in  a nine hour Evangelism Explosion one-day clinic on how to share your faith.  Three churches were represented: Aquismón, Tancanhuitz, and Ixteamel.  One member from the mission in Tancuime also attended.  Nahum Vega, national director of EE in Mexico, presented the course.  This was a joint effort between the Aquismón Baptist Church and the Bible Institute.   The institute paid for the travel expenses of the teacher, while the church provided the meals for the students and teacher.  At the close of the session, all students went out for a practice session during which several persons heard the gospel and some were saved.

Institute Classes

In both May and June I was privileged to teach two different classes in Veracruz and Axochiapan; both are our extension sites.  Philosophy of Missions II was the course in both locations.  A total of 35 students attended.

Plans are being made for Old Testament Survey II to be taught in Veracruz in September.  Andrés Pacheco will be the teacher.  Possibly Systematic Theology I will be taught by me in Axochiapan in either September or October.

Video Conference Class

During the second week of June Dr. Elton McCann taught Pastoring the Smaller Church to over twenty students in three locations using the video conferencing technology.  Students from Honduras, Costa Rica, and Mexico took the course in three extensión sites:  Arkansas, Mexico, and Costa Rica.  The next class will be in August and Dr. David Hellwig will be teaching New Testament Survey and Introduction I.  Pray for the students as they finish their assignments from the first class and prepare the assignments for the second class.

Please remember the following ítems in prayer:

1.             Video Conference class taught at BMA Seminary in Jacksonville, TX and transmitted to Mexico and Costa Rica.

2.             Finances for the rental of the video conference room in Cd. Valles.

3.             Plans for video conference classes for 2011.

4.             Peace for Mexico.

5.             Plans to travel to Bolivia and Guatemala for September and October.

Blessings,

Prashant Prakash, India:
(Received 04/09/2010)

Dear pastor, church family and praying friends;

We bring greetings to you in the name of out lord and savior Jesus Christ. We pray that this letter finds you in good health and spirit as we all continue to labor in His ministry.

Summer has begun here in India and is really getting hot. All schools and colleges are closed for the summer break and will reopen in June. We all had a good year for the Christian academy and look forward to the next academic year. All kids from the children’s home are gone for the break and will return in June.

We all start getting busy again in May with our annual youth conference. We are expecting a huge number this time. Last year we had a gathering of 400 and we expect more this time. The meeting will be held for three days in the last week of May just before school starts. This will be the third annual youth conference since the time we have returned to India. Please keep this meeting in your prayers.

And finally, the Kelgi church building is ready and was dedicated to the Lord on the March 23. A service was held in the morning and over 300 attended!*  It was incredible! Considering the building would hold about 200, we were well packed. All stayed back for the noon lunch that was provided. Truly God was honored, praised and glorified to the highest. We had a three day series of gospel meetings. People from all the surrounding villages were present, braving through the scorching summer heat. The gospel was preached all the three days in an open tent meeting, and many came to know Christ. All the church members are very thankful to all those who prayed and contributed towards this project. Many gave testimonies to how God has answered their prayers for this building.

Continue to pray for the needs of this ministry as we continue to preach and teach God’s precious Word that we all have tasted. Please keep in prayer the vehicle that is very much in need for the ministry also.

Once again we take this opportunity to thank you for your prayers and continued support towards missions. We also pray for you.

In Christ

Prakash family

Activity Report June 2007
(Received 7/14/07)

Greetings from Sainte-Marie, Québec, Canada.

The month of June has been very exciting for us. We took possession of our new church building; we praise the Lord for that new place in Sainte-Marie.  It is a great testimony for the people in town to see that we are still alive to be ambassadors for the cause of Christ. Some people refuse the message of the gospel but praise the Lord for those who received the true gospel.

Many visitors came to the church meetings during June.We also had a visit from our new missions director, Bro. Larry Barker. He preached a very good message for us and we thank God for many unsaved people who listened very carefully to his predication about John:1:12.

Please pray for Sherley's health.

Please pray for salvation of: Stéphane Paradis, Karel, Denis Sylvain, Mario Vallée, André Ferland, Mike Burns.

Please pray for music ministry, soul winning visitation, Sunday School teaching, preaching ministry. The Lord's protection for groups who will  come to help us here in the field in Sainte-Marie.

We give all glory to the Lord for the privilege to be in full-time ministry. I thank God for the great opportunity to share the gospel with French-speaking people.

Michel Poirier, Quebec, Canada:

The Poiriers

Quebec, Canada

 Update received August 25, 2010:

The Poiriers in Sainte Marie, Quebec

T he Poiriers in Quebec Canada

During my trip to Haiti I had the opportunity to visit the people who had received Christ in the month of March, and see if they were going to church. Even with so little they have big smiles on their faces and their hearts are overflowing with joy.  Within the first days I visited a friend of mine, pastor Norcilus and brought some financial relief for a family that had a great need for food and other items. In the afternoon I went to Bethel Baptist Church. This church was severely hurt during the earthquake and was given some financial assistance to rebuild the walls. The pastor was so excited to get the repairs going for the Lord. Wednesday morning I went to find some land on which to put houses for the people whom we know;  they were in great need of a house. We were able to purchase some land for them to put their house on.  It is very difficult for the people of Port au Prince to decide to move outside the city but it must be done.  In the afternoon I met with another friend of mine,  Pastor Paul Harrigan, and we had a great time of fellowship; he took me to some places that were hit badly  during the earthquake and told me the story of people from his church that were killed and their bodies are still trapped under the fallen building. One of his members who lost her husband in the quake was in desperate need of a home.  She was living with only a plastic sheet over her head and no walls around her.  Knowing that so many have great needs like she does, I had to stop and pray in my heart asking God to give me wisdom to use the resources of Gods people wisely.

Arriving at the place where they make transition houses, we took a look at the floor model and went inside the office to talk about the possibility of purchasing a couple of them. A one bedroom home is $2,160 plus shipping and assembling.  A two bedroom home is $2,995 plus shipping and assembling.  I purchased 3 houses and I gave the one bedroom to the widow lady. The pastor was so glad that he was shedding tears of joy as he received the news of the house. On returning to his home he told me that there was a great need of good Bibles for his people; now that to me is a great need, and I will try to do something on this end.

After coming home around 5:00 p.m, the sun was starting to set but I had company waiting for me.  It was Patrick and his wife Simone who came to see me.   Simone was not feeling well so I asked Patrick what was wrong with her, and he told me that she had not eaten at all that day.  He went on to tell me that they had two other couples in the car, and they had not eaten yet either. I made them all come in and fed them what I had with me with leftovers that were in the refrigerator. That’s one way to clean the refrigerator out!  As well, I gave these three families money for groceries. I could tell you first hand that food is so expensive there but I don’t have time to get into that.

Knowing that the new home owners would not have any furniture, I went and purchased the bare necessities for them. I was thinking how much we are blessed in North America, we have lots of food and all we need to live in our beautiful homes. I did not sleep that night, and was not prepared to see or hear what I would be facing the next day.  At 8:00 a.m. we were on our way to an orphanage that I had been told about. Getting there was difficult due to the road conditions. Finally, upon arriving, I met with a family that has taken in 55 children who were orphaned in the earthquake. They sang for me French gospel songs, it was beautiful. I asked the couple that takes care of them if they had any chairs for them, games, toys of any kind, they said “no.”  I asked them how they fed them, they said with the generosity of street people; they had not eaten today and it would be probably the next day before they would have the option of eating, said the lady in charge.  I saw the gravity of this cause. I went home that night knowing that the next day I would be on a plane returning to a country of plenty.

The next day at the airport in Port au Prince, one of the guards I spoke to was not saved, and was telling me that his family was converted but he was not. I spoke with him for 10 minutes trying to persuade him to repent of his sin and to trust Christ but, with no success. I gave him the address of my dear friend Paul Harrigan, and as I did so he said that the church was only a few blocks from where he lived. The Lord took care of the situation, and I went home that day praying that the Lord would protect the people of Haiti, and somehow give them the courage to go on in life and to trust Him for all their needs.  I want to thank all of you who gave toward this trip. I gave and dispersed the money according to the needs of each family who was in need. The hardest thing to do was to choose which ones to give to.

All for the cause of Christ in Haiti,
 Michel Poirier
